¶ $170
Sigh. I just discovered that a book I’m really, really looking forward to is listing at $170. I can justify all sorts of books for my professional use, but I’m not so sure that I can absorb quite this much for a single volume of stuff that’s mostly (entirely?) available elsewhere.
Rumor has it that Taylor attributes both Macbeth and Measure for Measure to Middleton, and I want to see how he (Taylor) pulls that off. There’s little question that the versions we read now were modified (edited, expanded, or cut down) by Middleton, but to give him headline credit above Shakespeare? Nuts. I’m really anxious to see what, besides the gutsiness of the move, justifies the reattribution.
But I guess I’ll be waiting until the library gets a copy and then I’ll make liberal use with the copy machine. Hello, Mr. Xerox: you are my best friend.
