¶ New plan #2: NaNoWriMo?

OK, so the post everytime I feel like checking email thing didn’t work out. Oh well. It seemed like a good idea at the time, I posted it and now I see that it wasn’t exactly a great idea. I learn, I learn, I learn.

Now, I’m choosing to to NaNoWriMo this year. I already write about 25,000 words a month on non-critical projects and writing, so I’m just doubling that. I don’t sweat the 25K; it’s only about 30 minutes per day. Upping it to an hour a day isn’t really that significant. Maybe it’ll be fun. Maybe I’ll drop out. I ran across the site, I signed up, and now I’m “committed.”

I’ve thought about it in the past, but I haven’t been writing 25K words a month until about August. Now I know how easy it is, I’m not really worried about doing it. Except the words need to be on a single project: that might be more difficult.

Here’s my plan. I’m going to leverage my scholarship to inform my “fiction.” I’m going to write the gripping tale of a scholar who is doing — surprise, surprise — the same research I am doing. The novel will recreate the scholar’s research as part of the plot. And what is the plot? Um: that’s still TBD. But so long as I fictionalize myself and write in the third person, I should be just peachy.

I’ll post more about my success, or lack thereof, when it happens.
